SIGNIFICANCE OF SHRAVAN'S MONTH

SHRAVAN MONTHS

Shravan maas is considered as most auspicius .  its th fifth month of of solar year and is also known as "AVANI" in Tamil scriptures. As per vedic astrology , when sun entres zodiac leo Shravan mass is said to set in. Shravan sets in on the new moon day. on full moon day , the divine sky is unde celestial soveregnty of Shravan Nakshtra.  Each day during this month is auspicious for worshiping Shambu(SHIVA). Prayer are performed in Lord Shiva temples in order to please him.
Various festivals comes across this holy month of Shravan such as Naga- Panchami , Vara Lakshi , Rishi Panchami , Raksha Bandhan etc. during this month, the cosmos is super charged with shiva tattva that purify the mind , the senses , the body and the self through the rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Significance of Shravan Mass:


Devotees observe austerities , fasts and prayers in holy month of shravan.when the ocean produced the deadliest poison called  halahala all of the had a back step as it was dangerous and it was shiva who decided to drink it and save the world. His devout wife saw him taking halahala, she at once held his through so that poison wont go down. As a result his throat turned blue and he was called Neelkantha.

you may chant the following shiva Mantra using a Rudrash rosary.

OM NAMAHA SHIVAYA"

I am none other than Shiva
who is the supreme reality.













Mahamrityunjaya Mantra:

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे 
सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् 
मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥


Benefits of fasting on Somvar in  Shravan month:
